Oliver Art Center, Frankfort, MI
October 22, 2012  12:30-3:30 (Not a repeat of the Oct.11th class so feel free to take both
classes! Different ideas and directions)
$35 members $45 non-members

Class Description:
Are you uninspired?  In a painting rut? Come and join me for a creativity boost. I will cook
up 3 to 5 different painting ideas or directions for you to experiment with. Class starts (as
always) with some sort of warm-up…then you can pick from the list of painting ideas I have
prepared. It might be “create a painting with 25 strokes” or “use out-lining creatively” I'll do
quick demos, guide you, and cheer you on. It’s sure to be a fun and inspirational way to
spend the afternoon.

Materials list:
Materials:
1.        Paint… red, blue, yellow, and white. (black optional)
2.        Your favorite brushes (small to large)
3.        at least 2 supports to paint on…watercolor paper, gesso primed paper (watercolor
paper that you’ve pre-painted with gesso or matte medium), canvas, canvas panel or
acrylic paper. Whatever type or size you prefer
4.        Two water containers (clean and eventually dirty water)
5.        Paper toweling (viva brand if you have it…no quilted pattern) and/or old terry towels
that will be paint rags forever more. (in other words… not your good towels)
6.        Foam or paper plates for palettes (or the palette that you normally use)
7.        Sheet of freezer paper for mixing on (or the palette that you normally use)
8.        Some sort of sketch book. Any sort. Spiral, lined, tablet…whatever you have
9.        Pen or pencil
10.         Optional….10-15 sheets of white card stock (shop n save has it) If your
sketchbook has thin or lined pages… this is a good alternative for “wet” sketches. (painted)
11.         Optional… drawing materials (colored pencils, oil pastels, pastels)
*note… all media welcome, but I have NO OIL PAINTING experience… I wouldn’t be able to
offer much technical advice.
