Lauren Everett Finn
I started with a soft
wash all over the
paper...then some of
the basic shapes
were laid in after the
wash was dry.
I usually like to add
the darks right
away...It's a bit
unconventional... But
I like to have the
value range in there
throughout the
painting.
Adding more
details.... I soften the
edges as I go.... I
don't want all hard
edges. I do this by
dampening the edge
with clean water and
working the brush
over the edge to
blend the color...not
really wet...just damp
enough to loosen the
paint.
At this point, I don't
like the negative
shapes at the bottom
edge of the paper. In
this piece, the
negative shapes are
the dark green, not
flower shapes. I
changed some of
them to make a
slightly better
composition.
My finished
watercolor...
