Lauren Everett Finn
week 26
This week (today) I decided to paint "en plein aire"...(fancy
way to say paint outside by direct observation)..I haven't
done much of this type of painting and I am going to meet
with a group of artists in Marquette, Michigan in June for
some outside painting... I thought I should try it a few times
before then :) ....It was cloudy and cool here in lower
Michigan (45F)...and there is no spring color yet...but the
snow is all gone!  I’m glad it was cloudy because I didn’t
have to deal with the quickly changing light...but the cloudy
weather  made for a rather drab painting....Oh well....I tried
to push the colors a bit, and I think it has a bit of a fall
feeling..rather than late winter early spring.....boo hoo.... The
oak leaves that stay around all winter are that burnt sienna
color, and I think that's why it looks like fall... I’m going to go
outside to paint more as the weather gets nicer...This view is
right outside my studio door, (I know, I’m very lucky) so I
could pop inside to get warm and refill my coffee...
This painting represents the half way point of the year....wow.
