Lauren Everett Finn
This was a really difficult week for me....Our family lost a dear
friend to cancer....She was only 38 years old....and a truly
wonderful person.... I was going to try to paint a bit of a
tribute to her...but I think it is too soon for me....and my skills
aren’t up to the ideas in my head....The funeral was on
Friday...and my youngest son left for London on Saturday
evening..(to spend some time with his Uncle and cousins)...so
needless to say...my head has been spinning.

I woke up this morning with this idea...thank goodness! I got
the best bing cherries from Meijers.....(I think my favorite part
of the cherries is the seed spitting that goes with them) As far
as the painting goes....I really like it from about 10 feet
away....The closer you get....the worse it looks...(you can try
it....stand up...back up and see how much better it looks :D)
Of course I could say that it looks better in complete
darkness too *snort*

I had a side spot light on them...but I also have overhead
fluorescent lights and the natural light coming in from the
window....The cherries were sitting on just white paper....and I
tried to look directly on top of them....so they should appear
to be floating a bit...(the harsher hard shadows are hidden
by the cherries themselves)..It was interesting that some of
the shadows from different sources seemed to be different
colors....both warm and cool....never noticed that before...
and really...I was only drinking coffee and then iced tea!
