When we were golfing up in Northern Michigan a few weeks
ago (at Champion Hill, in Honor)...along one of the fairways,
there was a large spot of Sumac that had decided to turn
orange already!!! The color was wonderful against the blue
spruce trees so I snapped a picture and that's the reference
image I used for this week's painting....
I also used a wax resist method that I kinda liked..... I painted
the base washes..(let them dry completely) ....then used
one of the soft clear wax crayons that come with Easter
egg coloring kits...(she who never throws anything away :-)  )
and covered some of the nice bright oranges and the soft
blue green spruce branches...It was kind of tricky...since you
can't really see what your doing...it's a clear crayon...but it
makes it really fun when you put the darker washes in....(like
secret agent code  )..the lines magically appear!...I know ...I
know.... I'm very easily amused

p.s....I could probably call this series "Tuesday morning
paintings"...
...oh...and Happy Birthday Don!
