| This week I decided to keep experimenting...I know abstracts aren’t everyone’s cup of tea....but I love the challenge of them....For anyone interested as to how I ended up with this....I started with a painted piece of paper....no rhyme or reason really...It was actually one of my less successful efforts that I just tore up to size....there was a bit of oil pastel on this one. Then I taped off the edges and put a layer of gesso on it and scraped some lines into the wet gesso....Let that dry completely...Remove the tape....then I re-taped the edge again...leaving a bit of the original un-gessoed paper exposed...almost like a small mat reveal....then...paintey paintey paint....just with colors you like....Then I let that dry... I put more tape over the dry gessoed and painted part...In this example...going across the direction I paintey paintey painted in......and scrubbed back to stained gesso....and removed all of the tape...to see where I was..... Then I softened some of the harsh tape edges and added some color back in....I wanted some of the pattern to continue out to the edges that had been taped...so I painted in a few gesso bits, let that dry and watercolor on top........and Ta Daa....I kind of like it :) The lighter horizontal lines that I scrubbed out...remind me of flashlights in the woods....Have any of you ever played flashlight tag??? Reminds me of that. |
